It is always a pleasure to speak with women with a long-standing professional career in the wine business, but even more so when you feel that this person is the one to mirror where to look when it comes to learning this particular business and seeing what could be possible for yourself.
This is my conclusion after my interview with Evelyn Pool: She’s a woman born in Texas, with a Californian heart. A tireless worker and fighter.
She is one of the first women wholesalers of wine in the US and boxes, bottles, and glasses of wine have been in her hands for more than 40 years. Her entrepreneurial nature has led her to create several companies always related to the sale and marketing of wine.
In 1998, she founded Crush Wine Marketing, a company that is dedicated to international sales, wineries positioning, and marketing actions. Currently she combines that with the vice presidency of Silenus Winery in CA where she is helping to create new wine brands for international markets.
Hence Tyros was born: a wine thought, created, and focused on one of the most competitive and difficult to reach markets.
Enter the Systembolaget, the monopoly system for all alcoholic beverages in Sweden, and without whom the wine cannot be sold.
